    Topic:  This program will provide a primer on the National Labor Relations Act and its applicability to both unionized and non-unionized employers, and also address the National Labor Relations Board and its General Counsel’s recent focus on non-union employer’s employee handbooks and workplace rules. Specifically, the Board and its General Counsel are increasingly taking the position that the mere maintenance of a work rule (in an employee handbook) may violate the NLRA if the work rule has a chilling effect on employees’ Section 7 activities. Real life scenarios involving workplace rules and how they may trigger unfair labor practice charges will be presented.

    While focusing on labor law, the presenter and materials will also discuss and provide guidance on the Department of Labor’s proposed regulations regarding overtime exemptions.
