Speaker: Dr. Eric Von Nessen, Interim Deputy Director of Unemployment Insurance at the SC Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW)
Dr. Erica Von Nessen is currently serving as the interim Deputy Director of Unemployment Insurance at the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce. Her current responsibilities include introducing regulatory and legislative changes for the agency, overseeing the expansion of electronic filing of unemployment insurance forms, and coordinating communication efforts on all unemployment changes for employers and the legislature.
She previously served as a special assistant to the agency’s Executive Director General John Finan where she was responsible for special projects related to the implementation of recent legislative changes to the agency, including an overhaul of the state’s unemployment insurance tax system. Prior to joining SCDEW, she worked in the research division of the South Carolina Department of Commerce analyzing unemployment insurance data.
Dr. Von Nessen received her Ph.D. in economics from the University of South Carolina and her B.S. in Economics from the College of Charleston.
